Black Beach

Sixteen-year-old Tamera lives in La Cresta, a Caribbean fishing community, while coping with her mother's mental illness, uncertainty about her future, and long separations from her boyfriend. A classmate's unexplained disappearance unsettles the community, and a personal loss adds to Tamera's isolation. When an environmental disaster damages her hometown, she wants to help but lacks the skills she thinks would make her useful. Her search for direction eventually draws her toward the unresolved disappearance and a decision that places her in danger.
