Secrets of the Shopping Mall

Eighth graders Barnie and Teresa flee both a violent gang and troubled homes with only four dollars between them. A bus takes them to Paradise Park, which turns out to be a suburban shopping mall rather than the refuge they imagined. Unable to return home, they secretly live inside a department store after closing time. What appears to be a safe, climate-controlled hiding place becomes unsettling when they discover that they are not the only people occupying the mall at night.
