Fire from the Sky

Ánte expects to continue his Sámi family's work with reindeer, a future tied to community tradition and responsibilities he has known throughout his life. At the same time, his feelings for his best friend Erik are becoming impossible to dismiss. Ánte worries about how his family and community would respond and cannot tell whether Erik feels the same way. The novel follows his effort to reconcile first love, fear, heritage, and the possibility of choosing a life that remains rooted in Sápmi without hiding who he is.
