Queen of the Tiles

Najwa Bakri returns to competitive Scrabble for the first time since the death of her best friend, Trina, who had been known as the Scrabble Queen. Najwa hopes the tournament will help her grieve and move forward, but the other players bring their own ambitions and unresolved feelings into the room. Surrounded by people who also knew Trina, she must confront the circumstances of the loss while navigating a contest built on strategy, language, and close attention.
