More About Ann Liang

Ann Liang was born in Beijing and grew up moving between China and Australia. She studied history and media communications at the University of Melbourne and lives in Melbourne. Her experience across languages and places informs fiction concerned with belonging, achievement, family expectations, and the identities young people construct for others.

Liang's debut, If You Could See the Sun, combines an elite Beijing school setting with a speculative premise: an overachieving student begins selling secrets after discovering that she can become invisible. In interviews, Liang has linked her creative process to developing character and plot together and to examining academic pressure, perfectionism, and the gap between public performance and private emotion.

Her later catalog broadens across contemporary romance, speculative identity stories, and historical fantasy. A publisher teaching resource records Liang's account of shaping I Hope This Doesn't Find You around unsent love letters and angry messages, while a Book of the Month podcast traces A Song to Drown Rivers to research on Xishi and changing ideas of beauty. Her official site lists ten published or announced books and reports publication rights in more than twenty territories.
