More About Amanda Dewitt

Amanda DeWitt is an author and librarian whose young adult novels combine queer and asexual representation with mystery, romance, horror, and comic adventure. She earned a master's degree in information and library science from the University of South Florida, and her current publisher bibliography includes Aces Wild, Wren Martin Ruins It All, The Underwood Tapes, and Devil's Advocate.

Aces Wild: A Heist follows five asexual teenagers who met through fandom forums and gather in Las Vegas to expose a criminal rival of the protagonist's family. DeWitt has said she wanted the characters to go on an adventure while asexual, without making identity struggle or discovery the book's central plot. The group also reflects the importance of friendships she formed online.

Her working method is exploratory. She writes chronologically, does not skip scenes, and avoids formal outlines because the first draft is how she discovers the characters and story. Revision becomes a separate process of moving and reshaping pieces until the book fits together.
