About this work & edition details

Junior is a budding cartoonist growing up on the Spokane Indian Reservation. Determined to change the future others expect for him, he leaves his reservation school for a largely white high school in a nearby farm town. The move exposes him to isolation and hostility while complicating his relationships at home. Drawing on Sherman Alexie's own experiences and accompanied by Ellen Forney's illustrations, the novel follows Junior as he uses humor, art, and persistence to navigate adolescence between two communities.
